Our mission is to enable the green transition and strengthen European resilience through the development of bio-based, fossil-free graphite, a critical material for batteries and electrification. The world cannot shift to renewable energy without graphite, yet Europe faces soaring demand, unstable supply chains, and near-total dependence on imports. China currently controls more than 90% of global production, and a significant global supply deficit is expected by 2030. Without decisive action, Europe’s transition is at serious risk. The defense sector is also fully dependent on graphite, which NATO ranks among the two most critical materials to secure.

Nordic Bio-Graphite offers a unique solution built on more than a decade of research at KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology. This research has led to a breakthrough catalytic process enabling large-scale production of bio-based graphite from forest residuals. Our graphite has demonstrated strong potential for both battery and steel applications. The company has rapidly attracted interest from industrial clients and investors and recently secured funding for its pilot plant.

Key responsibilities

•      Lead the full project lifecycle for the new production plant from planning to commissioning

•      Build and manage cross-functional project teams and coordinate external suppliers, contractors, and partners

•      Establish project structures, timelines, budgets, reporting routines, and decision processes

•      Oversee construction and installation activities, securing progress, safety, and quality

•      Drive risk management, scenario planning, and mitigation actions throughout the scale-up

•      Support ongoing work at the pilot plant and guide the transition to semi-industrial and commercial operations

•      Work closely with engineering, operations, and management to align project execution with company strategy

•      Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and industrial regulations

Qualifications

Critical: Experience from building or scaling up new production facilities, taking projects from design through commissioning and into operation

•      Experience from a scale-up or early-stage industrial company is a strong plus, but similar experience from stand-alone projects within larger companies is also valuable

•      At least 8 years of experience in project management or industrial leadership roles

•      Background can be from a wide range of sectors such as process, mining, chemical, energy, materials, or manufacturing. The key requirement is having led the setup of some form of production operation

•      Deep understanding of process engineering, plant design, and industrial operations

•      Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving start-up environment with limited structure and high ownership

•      Strong leadership and communication skills
